About Westmoreland County Criminal History

Westmoreland County criminal records are split among several custodians. The sheriff keeps its agency files, two courts at the Montross courthouse maintain case records, Virginia State Police operates the Central Criminal Records Exchange, and Virginia State Police also manages the Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Northern Neck Regional Jail in Warsaw holds local custody information. This private reference site organizes those official routes so readers can identify the right portal, counter, address, or telephone number without treating separate records as one database.

Why We Built This Site

Virginia offers several paths to public information, but each office answers a different question. In Westmoreland County, the sheriff is the source for reports created by deputies and for warrant or process guidance. Northern Neck Regional Jail maintains booking and present-custody material. General District and Circuit clerks hold the charges, hearings, orders, and dispositions in their courts. Virginia State Police runs the Central Criminal Records Exchange and the official Virginia Criminal History Record Check process. The Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry and the Virginia Department of Corrections locator serve still narrower purposes. We built this reference to keep those contacts, search routes, fees, and request steps in one clear place.

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to any Virginia court, sheriff's office, police department, or state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:

  • We do not issue certified court papers, criminal-history reports, or agency records
  • We cannot submit a Virginia FOIA request, expungement petition, or other filing for a reader
  • We do not run official criminal-history checks or retrieve a person's record
  • We cannot apply Virginia law to a specific charge, warrant, conviction, or petition
  • We cannot promise that a government office has not changed a fee, address, phone number, or procedure

Only the office that maintains a record can provide its official copy. That may be the sheriff, a court clerk, Northern Neck Regional Jail, or Virginia State Police.

Search Partners

Outside providers power some search boxes shown on the site. Each provider controls its own service, results, terms, and prices. If use of a tool results in a paid enrollment, this site may receive a referral payment that helps support free access to the reference material. We do not set a partner's charges, select its results, or turn those results into official Westmoreland County records.
